They burned my legs. The doctors rebuilt them.
When the attackers came, they set fire to the church. I was inside with my two children. We got out, but the roof fell on me before I could run. Both my legs were burned badly.
The nearest clinic could not treat burns that deep. A ShephardAid medical coordinator arranged for me to be taken to a hospital three hours away. They did four surgeries over two months. I can walk now, with a cane, and my children are with me.
I still have pain. But I can stand. And I can hold my children again.
