We ran into the night with the children on our backs
The militia came at dawn. They burned the church first, then the houses. My husband told me to take the children and run toward the river while he stayed behind to warn the others.
I never saw him again.
We walked for three days with nothing but the clothes we wore. A pastor in the next town contacted ShephardAid, and within a week we had food, shelter and medicine for the children. I am not safe yet. But I am alive, and my children are alive, and that is enough for today.
