The church was burned. The congregation is not.
They burned our building on a Sunday night when they knew we would not be inside. It took six hours and it took everything we had built in eleven years.
By the following Sunday we were meeting under a tarpaulin in the same compound, forty-one of us, singing louder than we should have.
The relief fund replaced our well, our generator and half the roof. More than that, it told us we had not been forgotten by the body of Christ outside this country. That is what stopped people from leaving.
